Mechanical Product Partner

VAG Group Spare 1

What began in 1872 as a special factory for pumps and heavy-duty valves in the aspiring German industrial city of Mannheim, is now a globally operative company with over 1100 employees worldwide. Bopp & Reuther became the VAG-Group – the former pioneers became The Valve Experts.

VAG can be found wherever water is pumped, treated, stored and distributed. The world demands modern water management – and that’s precisely what VAG supplies. With innovative standards in water and wastewater engineering, VAG has positioned itself not only as a supplier of solutions, but also and above all as a quality manufacturer when it comes to durable valves, high functionality and load-bearing mechanisms.

VAG valves are installed amongst others in barrages, dams, water works, drinking water supply networks and wastewater systems – wherever reliable closing and regulating mechanisms are indispensable.

Double-offset butterfly valves in VAG’s product range

Through this geometry, the circumferential seal is moved away from the seat and thus the strain on it is relieved when the valve opens. This minimises wear and ensures a long service life. Thanks to VAG’s more than 50 years of experience in the manufacture and further development of butterfly valves, the company offers a range of products ensuring maximum reliability of function, highest energy efficiency and a long service life.

VAG EKN® Butterfly Valves are available in three series: H-Series, B-Series and M-Series

B-Series for basic requirements
As a robust and cost-efficient solution, the basic series can be used for standard shut-off tasks in water treatment and water distribution.

M-Series for medium requirements
Proven VAG quality with fully enclosed bearing for even more corrosion protection and a wear-resistant seat. An automatic sealing system which is independent of the flow and equipped with a special sealing profile resists even high gap velocities.

H-Series for highest performance
This series meets the most stringent requirements in water treatment, water distribution, in power plants and dams. Its innovative design with patented hydrodynamic disk, enlarged inner diameter and patented pressure-compensation channels saves energy.  Thanks to their special construction, the butterfly valves of the H-Series minimise pressure loss and turbulence in the outlet area. Their maximum corrosion protection ensures an extremely long service life even in the harshest operating conditions.

Applications of double-offset butterfly valves
Thanks to their safety of operation, their design strength and corrosion resistance, double-offset butterfly valves made by VAG can be used in almost any application, both as buried valves and as parts of a plant. Due to their great variety of materials and coatings, VAG EKN® Butterfly Valves cover a wide range of applications.

  • Water distribution
  • Water treatment
  • Wastewater
  • Dams
  • Power plants
  • Industry

Depending on the type, VAG EKN® Butterfly Valves are suitable for use with the following media:

  • Drinking water
  • Raw water
  • Cooling water
  • River water
  • Service water
  • Sea water
  • Aggressive types of water
  • Wastewater (in some cases/pre-treated)

Centric butterfly valve in VAG’s product range: VAG CEREX® 300 Wafer-Type Butterfly Valve

A wafer-type butterfly valve with a long service life in proven VAG quality: The VAG CEREX® 300 Wafer-Type Butterfly Valve has a stable, full shaft and self-lubricating bearing bushes. It requires little maintenance, is blow-out proof and sealed with an O-ring. Its premium-quality epoxy coating (min. 250 µm) ensures maximum corrosion protection.

Thanks to two mounting varieties – wafer-type and lug-type – the installation of the VAG CEREX® 300 Wafer-Type Butterfly Valve is flexible. You can choose from a wide range of products: The standard version is available in nominal diameters from DN 50 to DN 600 and in nominal pressures from PN 10 to PN 16. All models can be operated with an electric, pneumatic or manual actuator.

Applications of centric butterfly valves
Centric butterfly valves are mainly used in the construction of facilities located inside closed buildings. Here, this butterfly valve type demonstrates its advantages, as it is more favourably priced and needs less space than a flanged butterfly valve. Butterfly valves with a centric bearing are used e.g. in the following applications:

  • Mining
  • Water supply
  • Water treatment
  • Sea-water desalination plants
  • Ship building
  • Chemical industry
  • Steel production
  • Plants for the production of bio-fuels
  • Sugar refineries
  • Paper production
  • Food industry
